Coatesville Masonry

The specific features of the site and the clients desire to create a tropical retreat dictated the design and lay out of this home. Because a stream runs through the middle of the section, the house is positioned at the rear of the site and is accessed via a covered board walk. A triple garage with a self-contained flat above is built on the front of the site.
Due to the alluvial nature of much of the soils on the site, the foundations are mainly driven piles with timber floors or concrete floors with driven piles under the footings.
The deck and boardwalk surfaces are 100 mm Qwila decking and the wooden floors are 150 mm Qwila T&G boards.
The cladding is a combination of Insulclad and Dark stained Cedar vertical Shiplap. The wide eaves with exposed rafters and T&G soffits along with the cladding details was a lot of work but it really gives the desired affect.
The concrete pool, which is built close to the house and adjacent to the outdoor living areas, also sits on driven piles. The pool, the boardwalk and the tropical planting help to give the impression of a Balinese retreat.
